The Astral Prophets released their debut full-length album, “Invasion”, on 30 October 2026. The Calgary, Alberta, band marked the release with a show at Festival Hall in the city on the same day, sharing the bill with Victoria Lies, Cabraakan and Kyle Pullan. Vocalist Staci Allen leads the current five-member line-up, which also includes guitarists AJ Bergin and Harley D’Orazio, bassist Terry Savage and drummer Kyle Summers.

The eight-track album moves through alien invasions, hyperspace travel, cosmic romance, madness and technological dystopias. The band describes its sound as power groove sci-fi metal, combining groove-heavy riffs, melodic power metal, hard-rock swagger, cinematic synths and science-fiction storytelling.

From EP to full-length

The release follows the band’s 2023 EP, “Anywhere But Here”, and a run of singles that included “Into Nothing”, “Power of the Rift” and “Invasion”. We previously reported on the album announcement and its three singles, including the guest appearance by Jeff Black of Glyph on the title track. Black trades guitar solos with Bergin on the song, giving the record a direct link to Bergin’s earlier musical history with the guitarist in Scythia.

Bergin said the band used the album to push its sound towards heavier material while keeping the melodic and cinematic elements introduced on the EP.

We wanted to bring an album that improves upon our already unique style. During our EP, we started to dial in our sound, but now we’re delivering an LP in our full form. We brought the music back to our heavier roots. The riffs are stronger, the leads are melodic and smooth, the drums are driving, and Staci’s singing is more ballsy. Every song is amazing in its own right, and we couldn’t be prouder of them.

The title track is one of three previously released songs included on the album. “Into Nothing” brings a danceable, glam-influenced feel, while “Power of the Rift” adds synth-driven hooks to the band’s science-fiction setting. The album’s remaining songs are “Target Locked”, “A Trail of Broken Stars”, “World Eater”, “Hyperdrive” and “Inside the Hyperdrive”.

Staci Allen joined in 2021

Staci Allen has been the band’s vocalist since joining in 2021. She shares vocal duties in the line-up with Savage and Bergin, while Allen’s lead singing sits at the centre of the album’s heavier, more direct sound. The band was formed in 2019 by former Scythia members Bergin, Savage and Celine Derval before developing into its current line-up.

The album artwork depicts a dying Earth, an alien mothership emerging from a wormhole and fleets descending on human civilisation. That imagery reflects the record’s wider themes of causality, retribution, love, longing and humanity’s uncertain fate in the face of an extraterrestrial force with superior technology.
