The Astral Prophets have announced their first full-length album, “Invasion”, due out on 30 October 2026. The Calgary band shared the news together with three singles, among them the opening track “Into Nothing”, a riff-driven song with a swing rhythm that the band says mixes a 1980s glam attitude with their own “Power Groove” style.
A guitar duel with Jeff Black
The album features a guest appearance by Jeff Black of Glyph on the title track, where he trades guitar solos with AJ Bergin. Bergin said he wrote the main riff of “Invasion” and sent it to bassist Terry Savage, who quickly built the verse, pre-chorus and chorus around it.
“In the song there is also Jeff Black of Glyph, in a guitar duel. In the past I played briefly with Jeff in Scythia, but we had never had the chance to collaborate on a song, until now. I am really proud to have involved him in this piece: I will treasure it forever!”

The band describes the album as a science fiction work dealing with anger, revenge, causality and madness, but also love and desire. The cover shows the Earth on the edge of collapse while a huge alien mothership tears through a wormhole to terraform the planet. Musically, the band says the record returns to its heaviest roots, with sharper riffs, melodic and fluid solos, driving drums and the most powerful vocal performances of Staci Allen so far.
The eight-track record features the following tracklist:
- “Target Locked” (4:24)
- “Power of the Rift” (4:08)
- “Invasion” feat. Jeff Black (4:06)
- “Into Nothing” (4:46)
- “A Trail of Broken Stars” (4:46)
- “World Eater” (4:35)
- “Hyperdrive” (4:47)
- “Inside the Hyperdrive” (3:37)
From Scythia to the stars
The Astral Prophets formed in Calgary in 2019, started by former Scythia members AJ Bergin, Terry Savage and Celine Derval, who wanted something heavier and rawer than their folk metal origins. The current line-up of Staci Allen, AJ Bergin, Harley D’Orazio (guitars), Terry Savage (bass) and Kyle Summers (drums) was completed in 2026. Earlier singles such as “Firewall”, “USB Humanity” and “Lazerwitch” were followed by the 2023 EP “Anywhere But Here”. Bergin says the band’s concept revolves around a not too distant dystopian future ruled by a robotic technocracy: “Space, aliens, techno-organic viruses: it’s all there!”
Staci Allen behind the microphone
Staci Allen has been the vocalist of The Astral Prophets since 2021. On “Into Nothing” her lyrics blur the line between dream and reality, inspired by a vivid moment when she dreamed of throwing a punch and felt its impact in real life. The band credits her with the boldest and grittiest vocal work of their career on the new album.
“Into Nothing” has roots in an ironic Scythia song called “Fort Make Money”, a satire about life in the oil sands work camps of Fort McMurray. Terry Savage wrote the chorus riff in a few hours, and the band immediately recognised its glam rock DNA. AJ Bergin calls it his favourite song to play live.
