MUDDIBROOKE will release “One Life” on 30 October 2026, the first single from the Derby alternative-rock trio’s self-titled debut album. The track and its accompanying video will premiere tonight, 29 October, before arriving through Black Stripe Music tomorrow. The album is due in spring 2027 and was produced by Thunder guitarist Luke Morley, with Nick Brine recording and mixing it.

From 3am thoughts

Vocalist and guitarist Brooke wrote “One Life” after a sleepless night filled with worries, hopes, fears and insecurities. Bassist and backing vocalist Anna Melidone and drummer Morgan Pettigrew complete the current trio. The song starts with a simple beat and develops a stronger tribal feel, turning private anxiety into a collective call to stop living by other people’s rules.

Whenever I’m trying to fall asleep, that’s when my brain seems to go into overdrive. Worries, hopes, fears, insecurities and completely random thoughts all arrive at once. That’s exactly how One Life was born. The lyrics are essentially a collection of thoughts I had during one sleepless night, all mashed together.

The video was directed and edited by Oliver Griffiths, with photography direction from Louis Brough. It was filmed with members of The Tribe, the band’s Derbyshire supporter community, and uses an open field, fast cuts, gloomy images and sunshine to reflect the movement of an overactive mind. An unexplained monkey also appears in the film.

We wanted the video to capture that same feeling of randomness and the vulnerability that comes with being alone with your thoughts. The vast, open field leaves us exposed, while the constant cuts of us moving around it reflect how quickly and unpredictably our minds can jump from one thought to the next. Take the monkey, for example. Why is he even in this? Everyone needs an excuse for a monkey.

Brooke leads the trio

Brooke sings and plays guitar in MUDDIBROOKE, while Anna Melidone plays bass and backing vocals and Morgan Pettigrew plays drums. The trio previously released the EP “Lunacy” and have toured across the UK as both headliners and support for Reef, Ugly Kid Joe, Nick Oliveri, Black Star Riders, Florence Black, The Subways and Wayward Sons. Their festival appearances have included Bloodstock, Maid Of Stone, Steelhouse, Call Of The Wild, Planet Rockstock and Y-Not.

A debut album ahead

The forthcoming album was recorded and mixed by Nick Brine at Rockfield Studios. Brine’s previous work includes recordings with Ash, Oasis, Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay and The Darkness. MUDDIBROOKE combine British grunge, alternative rock and heavier modern rock, with Brooke’s vocal delivery at the centre of the sound.

The band said the song’s central message is to ignore comparisons and outside judgement. Its video extends that idea by bringing supporters together on screen.

We’re all different, with our own thoughts, insecurities and ways of seeing the world, but we can still come together as one. For me, that’s what makes the line ‘Who cares what they say?’ so important. It sums up the whole song.
