I Ya Toyah, the Polish-born, Chicago-based industrial and dark electronic artist, released the digital single “White Walls” on 29 October 2026 through Femme Fatale Records. The track is the final preview of her “Error Prospect: Human” EP, which is due on 20 November, and arrived around World Mental Health Day with support for Backline Care, an organisation providing mental health and wellness resources to people in the music industry.
The song turns private distress into a tightly controlled performance. Its regular cadence and restrained vocal line reflect the experience of appearing composed while struggling internally. Toyah wrote the song and sings on it, while she and Johnny K produced it. Johnny K also mixed the track, with Howie Weinberg mastering it.
“WHITE WALLS came from one of those days when the darkness felt impossible to carry, so I turned it into a song.”
- I Ya Toyah
The accompanying video was filmed, directed and edited by Alex Zarek. Black and white imagery, hard lighting and close framing keep the focus on Toyah’s face, particularly her eyes, mouth and changing expressions. Angelica Dulany provided production assistance and additional direction, while Allison Ciletti also assisted and Janet Debris handled the makeup.
A request to be seen
Toyah’s statement about the song connects it to people whose struggles remain hidden behind a convincing appearance of being fine. The video’s donation button supports Backline Care, and listeners can also donate directly through the organisation’s fundraising page. The song’s message is summed up in the accompanying appeal: “If you can, give. If you can’t, listen. Check in on someone. Stay.”
I Ya Toyah’s industrial pop
I Ya Toyah has built her work around industrial, pop, electro rock and darkwave, pairing dark electronic production with personal lyrics and powerful vocals. She has released several recordings, made award-winning music videos and toured the United States multiple times. “White Walls” extends that focus towards the gap between what people show publicly and what they survive privately.
Toyah wrote, produced and performed the new single, continuing the self-directed approach that has shaped her recordings and visual work. The release follows the announcement of the “Error Prospect: Human” EP and gives the forthcoming record a closing single centred on mental health and recognition.
