Adust Rain have restarted activity with “Drama Queen”, the Japanese project’s first original full-length album. The record came out on CD at M3-2026 Autumn on 25 October, priced at 2,500 yen, and followed digitally on 27 October. It holds twelve tracks and is the band’s first original album rather than an arrangement release.
Twelve tracks, two guests
The album runs from “Lost Paradise” to a closing track called “Happy End”, and it pulls several earlier Adust Rain songs back in. “Insomnia Orchestra”, “Drxw” and “Jewelleryfish” all return, alongside album versions of “Seven Style”, “Helter Skelter” and “Milky way”. Two guests appear: Kyoko Amane on “Judgement of the Sun” and Hakuta Nuki on “Misery Song”. The artwork was made by ISAMYU, whose design credits include PassCode and majiko.
The music mixes metal-driven arrangements with melodic pop, and the vocals of okogeeechann sit on top of it. The band describes the record as music to accompany listeners through the darkness of night.
okogeeechann, the voice of the project
okogeeechann is Adust Rain‘s vocalist and has been the constant voice of the project through its arrangement releases and original singles. She has fronted the band since its early doujin releases, including “TRAUMATIC SYNDROME” in 2014 and “Nightmare Essence” in 2015, and she has also appeared as a guest vocalist on other labels’ Touhou arrangement albums, where one of her performances won a contest prize. In 2018 the band marked her pregnancy with a charity EP sold at Comiket, with the proceeds going to her child. On “Drama Queen” she carries the twelve tracks, with Kyoko Amane and Hakuta Nuki joining her on two of them.
From doujin fairs to a first original album
Adust Rain formed in Japan and built its catalogue in the independent doujin scene, selling CDs at events such as Reitaisai, M3 and Comiket and releasing Touhou arrangement albums. Those releases include “Secret Traveler” in 2015, “EViL DANCE MUSIC!!” in 2016, “Asking for the Moon” and “Judgement of the Sun” in 2017, “Period or Primeness” in 2019 and “Masquerade as a ghost”, which reached streaming services in July. The band’s line-up has changed over the years: scream vocalist K.ShawZ left in 2017 for personal reasons, with guitarist kissssy covering his parts or guest vocalists stepping in, and arranger Menikichi became a full member at the same time.
“Drama Queen” is the first original full-length to come out of that history, and it arrives alongside the band’s return to activity. A double A-side single, “Under the moon/Drama Queen”, was sold earlier this year at M3-2026 Spring on 26 April and at the 23rd Hakurei Shrine Reitaisai on 4 May, both at 1,500 yen.
