Belgian occult rock and doom band Wolvennest will release a new EP, “In The Ruins”, on 6 November 2026 through Consouling Sounds. The three songs were written during the sessions for the band’s 2025 album “Procession” but did not end up on the record. The title track is already available as a first taste of the EP.
Three songs left over from “Procession”
The EP holds three tracks: “The Weakness”, “Transcendance” and “In The Ruins”, in that order. The title track runs just under 13 minutes and carries the band’s usual mix of psychedelic rock, doom and restrained industrial elements. Hypnotic riffs, long instrumental passages and the vocals of Shazzula build a dark, almost ritual atmosphere, with the individual sections given room to develop before the song thickens again in its extended finale.
Audiences on the band’s recent European tour have already heard the new material live. The title track in particular works on stage as well as on record.
Shazzula has fronted the band since 2015
Shazzula sings and plays keyboards and theremin in Wolvennest, and has been a member since the band formed in Brussels in 2015. Her voice sits at the centre of the band’s sound, over the twin guitars of Marc De Backer and Michel Kirby, the guitars, bass and keyboards of Corvus von Burtle, the drums of Bram Moerenhout and the bass of VaathV, who joined in 2025. She also plays in Aqua Nebula Oscillator, Sayona and The Nest.
A Brussels band with eight releases behind it
Wolvennest formed in Brussels in 2015 and plays psychedelic doom metal with black metal and ambient elements, with lyrics about occultism and rituals. “In The Ruins” follows the 2025 album “Procession”, the 2023 album “The Dark Path to the Light”, the 2021 live album “Ritual - MMXX”, the 2020 album “Temple”, the 2019 EP “Vortex” and the 2018 album “Void”. Consouling Sounds has released the band’s recent records.
