A Knight Under Maria’s Altar have announced a new EP called “Inevitability”, in which the Dutch metal collective searches for the inevitable in melody without losing the intensity that defines them. The release opens a new cycle for the group and pushes their sound further towards a more melodic and emotionally layered form of metalcore.
Marcus Vik helps write the songs
The songwriting received a contribution from Marcus Vik of Invent Animate, and the EP consists of four tracks: “Engulfed by Emptiness”, “| as the Silence Takes Over”, “Once More” and the instrumental ambient piece “Desolationism”. Besides presenting the songs separately, the collective has also assembled them into one continuous listening experience in which music, lyrics and atmosphere reinforce each other. An accompanying video supports the duality of the story visually.
Decay, loss and unfair endings
Within the overarching concept of “Inevitability”, decay, loss and the unfairness of the unavoidable take centre stage. The EP explores the powerlessness of watching a loved one suffer and being lost, and the confrontation with a reality that refuses to change. As the band puts it: not every ending has a reason, not every suffering is just, and not every question gets an answer. Where voices are suppressed, the collective screams through the silence with unrelenting energy and unfiltered emotion.
From isolation to a collective of more than twenty
The idea for the collective was born to bring together talents during a long period of uncertainty and isolation, and it has since grown to more than twenty members. From that shared need came the debut album “Heresy Of Horror”, with a raw and intense sound full of crushing breakdowns and aggressive riffs. That relentlessness remains, but the emphasis now lies on emotional depth and melodic intensity.
Nawoddya Ramkisoensing’s role in the debut
Among the members who have contributed to the collective’s music is Nawoddya Ramkisoensing, who handles vocals and drums. She appeared on the debut song “Sin Ov Pride” alongside Tom Schoone, who covered vocals, production, drums, guitar and bass, and vocalist Kasper Wienk. The collective deliberately set out to combine raw individual talent into something larger than a single band.
“Inevitability” invites listeners through different phases of processing, with the music acting as the embodiment of personal growth, both on record and live.
