Entheos release their fourth album, “Empty on the Inside”, on 23 October 2026, one day after the announcement. The record picks up where their 2024 EP “An End To Everything” left off, and it completes a shift that has been running for a decade: away from the technical death metal of their early records and towards something closer to alternative metal.
Nods to the 90s
The new material leans on 90s rock and metal, with influences that reach from Skinlab, Pist.On and NIN to Slipknot and Skunk Anansie. The choruses are the biggest change: where earlier Entheos records buried melody under blast beats, this one puts it at the front. The opening track “Hell Is A Part of Me” keeps the aggression, with drummer Navene Koperweis letting the blasts loose over huge riffs, while the lead single “Golden Crown”, a song the band have worked on since 2020, opens with sparse eerie guitar and a marching bass line before the distortion arrives.
Not every track hits the same mark. The industrial pop of “Undone” and the ballad “Never Let Me Go” are quieter turns, and the second half of the record, including “Tomblight” and “Pale Faith”, trades energy for a more emotionally charged tone. The full running order is “Hell Is A Part of Me”, “Golden Crown”, “Undone”, “Never Let Me Go”, “Tomblight”, “Pale Faith” and “Hollow”.
Chaney Crabb’s two voices
Vocalist Chaney Crabb carries most of the record’s range. Her screams are as harsh as ever, with “Hollow” described as sounding more unhinged than anything she has recorded before, but her clean singing has grown into a genuine second instrument. Crabb joined at the band’s formation in 2015, after her audition video for the vacant Veil of Maya singer spot went viral, and she has previously sung in From Citizen to Soldier and Systems.
From Santa Cruz to Metal Blade
Entheos formed in Santa Cruz, California in 2015 from former members of Animosity, Animals as Leaders and The Faceless. The EP “Primal” arrived in March 2015, followed by the albums “The Infinite Nothing” in 2016, “Dark Future” in 2017 on Spinefarm and “Time Will Take Us All” on Metal Blade Records in 2023. The title track “Empty on the Inside” was first released as a single on 16 October 2025, a full year before the album it now closes.
