FERNDAL will release their third studio album, “Asuras”, on 4 December 2026. The German melodic black metal band will issue the record on CD and digitally through Bandcamp and major streaming platforms, while the title track is already out as the first single with an official music video.
Cello against black metal
FERNDAL build their sound around an equal meeting of black metal and classical music, with cello, guitars, harsh screams and clean vocals sharing the musical space. The band describe “Asuras” as a continuation of that approach, with greater intensity and deeper soundscapes. Its lyrics focus on seduction, manipulation, power and ideology, following their effects on the human mind, inner decay and free will before turning towards a desire for liberation.
The album lasts 40:57 and was recorded in autumn 2024 at Studio E with producer Markus Stock. Joris van Gelre of BEZWEZING and NODFYR appears as a guest vocalist. The band have also shared behind-the-scenes footage from the November 2024 sessions, set to the finished version of “Asuras”.

The album artwork comes from Mosaeye, while Sorathiel created the design. The 2026 line-up comprises Sorathiel on vocals, music and lyrics, Lestaya on cello, Abarus on guitar and bass, Eskaton on guitar, and Azares on drums. The band’s live performances bring together founding members and newer additions, presenting that continuity alongside a renewed spirit.
Two shows after release
FERNDAL will play Aschepfade Vol. I in Cologne on 14 November 2026, weeks before the album arrives. The band are also booked for Knüppelfest in Hamburg on 16 January 2027.
