Belgian post-black metal band Oathbreaker will play Australia for the first time in March 2027, with two headline shows at Crowbar in Brisbane and Sydney and a slot at the sold out festival debut of Lucidity in Melbourne. The tour was announced by promoter Destroy All Lines, with pre-sale tickets on sale on Thursday 29 October at 11am AEDT and general tickets on sale on Friday 30 October at 11am local time.

Two Crowbar shows and a sold out festival

The headline dates are Thursday 11 March 2027 at Crowbar in Brisbane, supported by local post-metal band Slowcut, and Friday 12 March 2027 at Crowbar in Sydney, supported by Melbourne experimental grindcore unit Diploid, who play their first Sydney show in several years. On Saturday 13 March 2027 the band appear at Lucidity 2027 in Melbourne, performing their 2016 album “Rheia” in full. That festival date is already sold out.

Texan metal punks Portrayal of Guilt provide direct support across the run, touring their 2026 record “…Beginning of The End”. The three-piece has built a reputation in the extreme underground by mixing black, death and nu-metal with crust, screamo, powerviolence and hardcore. Australian screamo band Blind Girls complete the package.

Caro Tanghe sings and screams at the front

Caro Tanghe has been Oathbreaker’s vocalist since the band’s early years, performing both screamed and sung vocals. She and guitarist Lennart Bossu are also members of Amenra, and both bands belong to the Church of Ra collective started by Amenra. Tanghe met guitarist Gilles Demolder when she was 14, and the two childhood friends went on to form the band that became Oathbreaker. She also plays in the project No Recess.

From Ghent hardcore to a decade of “Rheia”

Oathbreaker formed in Ghent in 2008, growing out of the Belgian underground hardcore punk scene before adding extreme metal and art music elements to their sound. They released the debut album “Mælstrøm” in 2011, followed by “Eros|Anteros” in 2013 and “Rheia” in 2016, the last two on Deathwish Inc. The band announced a hiatus in 2018, returned with the track “Ease Me” in 2020 and confirmed a reunion in October 2025, marking ten years of “Rheia” with a remaster of the album in May 2026. The Australian dates follow that anniversary run.
