LIVA have released the official video for “O Roma nobilis” today, 6 November 2026. The Canadian symphonic metal band take an ancient Latin hymn praising Rome and reshape it with orchestral arrangements, operatic-style vocals and heavy guitars. The song appears on “Ecce Mundus”, their album released through Wormholedeath.
A hymn to Rome
The hymn presents Rome as a city of grandeur, devotion and spiritual power, invoking the blood of martyrs and white lilies before turning to Saints Peter and Paul. Its prayers for mercy, guidance and wisdom give the track a solemn, theatrical character. Director Pierre L’Espérance made the official video, with Guy Picotte handling colour and Bernard Langlois, Richard Lacroix and Sébastien Langlois working on the lighting. Rémi Côté, Malicia Knecht and Zaak Martin Robert operated the cameras.
LIVA formed in Sherbrooke, Quebec, in 1997. The band’s album catalogue also includes “Human Abstract”, “De Insulis” and “Requiem”, while “Ecce Mundus” was their latest full-length before the new video arrived.
Naad joined in 2021
Naad sings soprano vocals for LIVA and has been part of the band since 2021. Her operatic vocal style fits the group’s use of orchestral and sacred material. She performs alongside bassist Martin Tremblay, drummer Claude Lacroix and vocalist and guitarist Pier Carlo Liva.
