Future Static have released the official video for “State of Mind” today, 6 November 2026, through Wild Thing Records. The digital single arrives alongside the Melbourne, Australia band’s second album, “Ornaments & Memories”, which is also out today.
The song’s lyrics move through images of restraint, blurred memory and unwanted control, asking whether the narrator is trapped in a dream or a nightmare. Repeated lines about being bound, pinned down and crushed give the track a tense psychological focus.
Paintings shape the video
Future Static made and produced the video with Heaviside Creative, whose team directed and edited it. Renee Schulz created the paintings and set design, and also appears as the artist in the video. Christopher Vernon produced, mixed and mastered the track. Jackson Trudel’s drum setup was supported by Meinl Cymbals, Remo Skins, BSP Drumsticks and Natal Drums.
The release follows the band’s earlier release of “Waterworks” ahead of the album. That song was presented as a return to Future Static’s post-hardcore roots, while “Ornaments & Memories” takes a darker and more philosophical approach to internal and external conflict, personal growth and life in an accelerating world. The album follows the band’s 2023 debut, “Liminality”.
Amariah Cook leads the band
Amariah Cook is Future Static’s lead vocalist and fronts the new album and its accompanying video release. Her vocal performance carries “State of Mind”’s account of fear, pressure and uncertain consent. She is part of the Melbourne quintet alongside guitarists Ryan Qualizza and Jack Crawford, bassist Kira Neil and drummer Jackson Trudel.
“State of Mind” and “Ornaments & Memories” are available through Wild Thing Records, with the video released on the label’s YouTube channel.
