CARNIFEX have released the official video for “The Process Of Pain”, featuring ENTHEOS vocalist Chaney Crabb. The footage was filmed during Carnifex’s 11 October performance at Furnace Fest in Birmingham, Alabama, where Crabb joined the band on stage for the song’s live debut. The video arrived on 6 November through Sumerian Records, alongside Carnifex’s tenth studio album, “More Than Misery”.

The festival performance replaces a conventional studio video. The Homie Criket Media filmed and directed the clip, with Ryan Gelder working on colour and visual effects and Parker Estopinal editing it. The song’s lyrics focus on suffering, death and the loss of one’s former self, while the video places Crabb’s guest appearance in front of the Furnace Fest audience.

A first appearance on Sumerian

“More Than Misery” is CARNIFEX’s first album for Sumerian Records. The band, formed in Fallbrook, California, in 2005 by vocalist Scott Ian Lewis and drummer Shawn Cameron, emerged during deathcore’s first wave and later expanded its sound with blackened atmosphere, symphonic elements and more prominent melodic guitar work. The album follows releases including “Dead in My Arms”, “Hell Chose Me”, “Die Without Hope”, “Slow Death”, “World War X” and “Necromanteum”.

For Crabb, the Carnifex appearance follows ENTHEOS’ recent release “Hell is a Part of Me” through Metal Blade Records. We covered when she shared the video for that single, a Malcolm Pugh-directed clip built around Crabb’s vocals. Mark Lewis and Navene Koperweis produced the track, with Lewis also mixing and engineering, while Evan Brewer played studio bass.

Chaney Crabb’s vocal work

Chaney Crabb is the vocalist of ENTHEOS, the progressive death metal band formed in Santa Cruz, California, in 2015. She has also worked with From Citizen to Soldier and Systems, alongside her work with Entheos. Her current Entheos bandmates include drummer Navene Koperweis, Michael Stancel and Scott Carstairs. The band released its latest album, “Time Will Take Us All”, through Metal Blade Records in 2023.
