Entheos have released the official video for “Hell is a Part of Me”, out now through Metal Blade Records. The clip was directed and shot by Malcolm Pugh, and the song is led by the vocals of Chaney Crabb.
The track was produced by Mark Lewis and Navene Koperweis, with Lewis mixing and engineering. Evan Sammons handled additional audio editing, Evan Brewer played studio bass, and Justin Sturtz mastered at Sterling Sound.
Taking ownership of the dark
Crabb says the song is about accepting the parts of yourself that are easier to hide.
‘Hell is A Part of Me’ is about taking ownership of your own darkness. It’s about acknowledging those parts of yourself rather than pretending they don’t exist. So much of life can make people feel like they need to hide their darker side in order to be worthy of acceptance, but this song pushes against that idea. It’s about understanding that pain can be something that you acknowledge within yourself, but it doesn’t define who you are. For us this song feels like a statement and really encompasses the spirit of our band as a whole with catchy riffs, anthemic choruses and a heavy breakdown.
- Chaney Crabb, vocalist
The lyrics follow the same idea, moving between a black abyss and a refusal to be consumed by it: “I have no fear, I am the flames, hell is a part of me.”
Chaney Crabb, from a viral audition to Entheos
Chaney Crabb is the vocalist of Entheos and has fronted the band since it formed in 2015. She came to wider attention before that, when her vocal audition video for Veil of Maya’s vacant singer spot went viral. She has also worked with From Citizen to Soldier and Systems. On “Hell is a Part of Me” she writes the words and delivers the clean and harsh sides of the vocal line.
A band built from other bands
Entheos formed in Santa Cruz, California in 2015, put together by Koperweis and Crabb with bassist Evan Brewer and guitarist Frank Costa, all of them coming out of Animosity, Animals as Leaders and The Faceless. The debut EP “Primal” arrived in March 2015, followed by the album “The Infinite Nothing” in April 2016 and “Dark Future” in November 2017 on Spinefarm. “Time Will Take Us All” came out on 3 March 2023 on Metal Blade Records, and the single “Empty on the Inside” followed on 16 October 2025.
