TARJA TURUNEN will perform eight Christmas concerts in Poland and the Czech Republic in December 2026, presenting her new programme “The Spirit Of Christmas” with a string quartet. The first show is scheduled for Poznán, Poland, on 12 December, while the final concert will take place at Hybernia in Prague on 21 December. Tickets are now on sale through the artist’s official website and the Czech promoter’s ticketing page.
Eight concerts before Christmas
The run opens at Sala Ziemi in Poznán on 12 December and continues at Cavatina Hall in Biesko-Biała on 13 December. Tarja Turunen will then play six dates in the Czech Republic: Zlín on 15 December, Ostrava on 16 December, Olomouc on 17 December, Hradec Králové on 19 December, Plzeň on 20 December and Prague on 21 December.
The Czech venues include the Church of Our Lady of the Snows in Olomouc and the Great Synagogue in Plzeň. The concert in Hradec Králové will take place at Aldis, while the Prague performance is scheduled for Hybernia. The announcement describes the shows as Christmas performances focused on calm, reflection and emotion rather than a large-scale production.
A quartet joins Tarja
The new concert format places Tarja Turunen with a string quartet. The announcement presents “The Spirit Of Christmas” as a new Christmas concert while continuing her established seasonal performances during Advent. The Finnish singer has released several Christmas records during her solo career, including “Henkäys ikuisuudesta”, “From Spirits and Ghosts” and “Dark Christmas”.
Tarja’s background connects the concerts to both classical and metal music. Born in Finland in 1977, she studied lyrical singing at the Sibelius Academy and the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe. She co-founded Nightwish in 1996 and sang with the symphonic metal band until 2005, before beginning her solo career in 2006. Alongside her solo work, she has performed with projects including Harus, Noche Escandinava, Outlanders and Raskasta Joulua.
From “Frisson Noir” to Christmas
The Christmas announcement follows a busy period for Tarja Turunen. Her latest studio album, “Frisson Noir”, was released on 12 June 2026 through earMUSIC, her first album of new material since “In the Raw” in 2019. She co-produced the record with Mic, while Neal Avron mixed it and Ted Jensen mastered it. The album includes guest appearances from Marko Hietala, Apocalyptica, Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers.
As we reported when Tarja and Apocalyptica released the single “Tango”, the track arrived on 15 October 2026 through earMUSIC. Tarja wrote its music and lyrics and sang on the song, while Apocalyptica played cello.
Tarja Turunen, from Nightwish to Christmas
Tarja Turunen is the Finnish vocalist and pianist at the centre of the Christmas concerts. She joined Nightwish at the band’s formation in 1996 and left in 2005, later establishing a solo career that has included metal, classical and Christmas releases. Her solo work includes the 2026 album “Frisson Noir” and the single “Tango” with Apocalyptica. The December shows continue her long-running connection with seasonal concerts while introducing the string-quartet arrangement.
