FULL FLOWER MOON BAND, fronted by Kate ‘Babyshakes’ Dillon, have shared “Party Hard”, the second single from their fourth album, “After Dark”. The album will be released on 26 February through Impressed Recordings. The Australian rock band will support Foo Fighters in Brisbane and Townsville this month before joining Powderfinger’s tour in late 2027.
A song for scene-makers
FULL FLOWER MOON BAND present “Party Hard” as a song about the friends, fans and artists who keep a music scene going despite financial pressure, limited recognition and difficult conditions. Its subject is the work that continues because it has meaning, even when it brings no obvious reward.
The single follows “Megaflower”, the band’s 2024 album. That record debuted at number one on the ARIA Australian Album Chart, sold out its first vinyl pressing within a week and won The Triffid’s Album of the Year.
One month in New York
Kate ‘Babyshakes’ Dillon wrote “After Dark” during a single month in New York after receiving the Grant McLennan Fellowship, a competitive award given to one Australian songwriter each year. She applied for the fellowship because she wanted to feel like a small fish in a big pond again, after Brisbane’s music scene had begun to feel smaller.
The experience did not produce the excitement she expected. Dillon described the change in her outlook while discussing the album’s darker background:
I was expecting to be excited, then the excitement started falling away. I was photo synthesising the quality of light I was getting at the time into something that was not feeding me in the way I expected. So it turned into a much darker lived experience.

Foo Fighters, then Powderfinger
FULL FLOWER MOON BAND will play support shows with Foo Fighters in Brisbane and Townsville this month, taking material from “After Dark” alongside earlier songs. In late 2027, the band will join Powderfinger’s newly announced tour for concerts at Cornelian Bay Oval in Hobart and the Brisbane Showgrounds.
