KILL THE PRINCESS have released the official video for “Grim Survival”, a song from their album “A Fire Within”. The all-female pop-metal band turns the track’s account of violence, tribalism and human decline into a staged post-apocalyptic production.
A world eating itself
The lyrics move from people screaming, crying and disappearing to a society where “the weak are crushed while the strongest grow wild”. The chorus asks if humanity is cursed or simply blind, while later lines describe people feeding on scraps and witnessing their own decay. The video uses this imagery through characters labelled the Traitor, the Poisoner and the Tyrant, alongside guards, imprisoned figures and zombies.
Ornella Roccia writes the lyrics
KILL THE PRINCESS vocalist and lyricist Ornella Roccia co-directed the video with Elise Thénard. Roccia also worked on the make-up, while Thénard served as director of photography, editor and post-production lead. Niko of Vamacara Studio mixed and mastered the song.
Filmed at Le Kilowatt
KILL THE PRINCESS filmed the production at Le Kilowatt in Vitry-sur-Seine, with stage lighting by Julien Folbaum. Elias Dastugues plays the Traitor, Judith Haggiag plays the Poisoner and Jérôme Vega plays the Tyrant. The wider cast includes guards, people placed in a cage and zombies, with the credits also acknowledging La Troisième Harmonique, S7pt MILLE, Movimiento and Lucie.
“Grim Survival” is available on “A Fire Within”, which was released in 2025, while the official video is streaming through the band’s YouTube channel.
