CARMERIA have released their third full-length album, “Ex Cathedra”, on 30 October 2026. The Australian band describe their sound as a fusion of gothic and progressive power metal shaped into a symphonic metal style, and the self-released record is available internationally across digital platforms and on CD.
Ten songs from the Blue Mountains
The album contains ten tracks: “Ex Cathedra”, “Wings”, “Unto the Dawn”, “The Ashenheart”, “Embrace the Moon”, “Phantasma”, “A Rose Divine”, “Caelira”, “Shadows in the Sunlight” and “Echoes of the Dream”. The closing song features Canadian singer Lindsay Schoolcraft, adding a guest vocal appearance to the record’s final piece.
“Caelira” and “Unto the Dawn” preceded the album as singles, with official videos released on 28 August and 25 September respectively. The songs introduced the album’s direction before the full record arrived, while the band framed its central ideas around suffering as an unavoidable part of life without treating despair as inevitable.
Emma Louise Nagy since 2021
Bassist and backing vocalist Emma Louise Nagy has been part of CARMERIA since 2021. Her bass work and additional vocals place her in the line-up behind the album’s symphonic and melodic metal arrangements. She joined the Sydney band after its earlier releases, including the albums “Advenae” from 2021 and “Tragédie D’amour” from 2024.
Japanese CD in December
CARMERIA formed in Sydney in 2012 and rebuilt its line-up after the original formation broke up within its first year. The group later issued the EP “Awakening”, the acoustic EP “Trinity: Volume I” and several singles before preparing “Ex Cathedra”. A Japanese CD edition through Ward Records is due on 18 December 2026, with Japanese liner notes and translated lyrics while retaining the same ten-track programme without a bonus song.
