ARYEM have released the video for “La Llorona (Symphonic Metal Version)” today, 30 October 2026. The Mexican symphonic metal band’s version of the traditional song draws on the Día de Muertos legend of La Llorona, a story that has also reached international audiences through the film “Coco”. Vocalist Karen M-dozza leads the performance.
A mariachi metal interpretation
The song retains its Spanish lyrics, including the recurring plea to be taken to the river and the promise of continued love despite the cost. ARYEM describe the release as part of their mariachi metal and symphonic metal style, using the song to explore the story behind one of Mexico’s best-known legends.
The video was directed and edited by Diego Maaginen, who also produced it at Maaginen Studios. Gabriel Mendoza created the original story and concept, while Luis Arturo Echegollen mixed and mastered the track. Mendoza, Christian Vizuet, Ricardo “Rashno” Cisneros and Susana Bernal appear alongside the band.
Karen M-dozza joined in 2019
Karen M-dozza has sung with ARYEM since 2019. She is also associated with Von Dralius. The band formed in Mexico City in 2012 and its recent releases include the 2026 album “Agnes” and the single “You Won’t Miss me”. The new video continues ARYEM’s recent focus on combining Mexican musical and cultural references with symphonic metal.
