Voyager have released a new single, “Secret”, on 27 October 2026. It is the Perth progressive metal band’s first new song since their 2025 single “Seen Better Days”, and it arrives after a hiatus that began when singer and keyboardist Danny Estrin was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in September 2023.
The band wrote and produced “Secret” with Matt Templeman, who also mixed it. It was recorded at Hopping Mouse Studios and mastered by Simon Struthers. Joseph Varley of DarkSpiritPhotography directed and edited the music video.
A return to 80s melodies
Estrin describes the track as a step back towards the band’s older sound.
Secret is a return to classic Voyager 80s melodies, big grooves and big solos; we are so excited to unleash this banger of a track onto the world. What’s the secret? Only Voyager knows and we’re not telling you…
- Danny Estrin, lead vocals and keyboards
The lyrics keep the title’s riddle going: “We know all the secrets / But we’re all out of time”, Estrin sings, before the chorus insists “we’re keeping this a secret, you’ll never find the answers now”.
Simone Dow, fifteen years on guitar
Simone Dow plays guitar in Voyager and has held the role since 2005, when she joined ahead of the recording of the album “uniVers”. She has also played with Noctis, Psychonaut and Scourge. Her guitar work sits at the centre of the band’s sound, and “Secret” gives her the big solos Estrin points to. She is one of two guitarists in the current line-up, alongside Scott Kay.
Three Australian shows in November
The single lands ahead of an Australian run titled “Through Storms and Stars”. Voyager play The Croxton in Melbourne on Friday 6 November, the Manning Bar in Sydney on Sunday 8 November, and Magnet House in Perth on Friday 20 November. Tickets are on sale.
The dates follow the band’s return to European stages this summer, where they debuted their Evening With format in Tilburg and London, played festival sets at Radar and headlined ProgPower USA.
From Eurovision to an unplanned break
Voyager formed in Perth in 1999 at the University of Western Australia. Their studio albums include “Ghost Mile” in 2017, “Colours in the Sun” in 2019 and “Fearless in Love” in 2023. The band represented Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with “Promise” and finished ninth.
That success was followed by the diagnosis, which forced the cancellation of all international touring plans. Estrin underwent extensive treatment, and for a time it was unclear whether he would sing again. The band’s return to live work in 2026, and now a new single, answer that question.
