Gore., the Houston metalcore band fronted by vocalist Haley Roughton, released their new EP “…Then You Cannot Love Me” on 9 October 2026 through Spinefarm Records. The seven-track release completes a conceptual story that began with the band’s 2025 EP “If You Do Not Fear Me…”, with the two titles conceived as parts of the same proposal.
Two EPs, one story
The band has explained that the first EP leaned towards a darker, more pessimistic atmosphere, while the new material develops another perspective on the same narrative. Together, the two releases are meant to dialogue with each other and reflect on harmful relationships and the contradictions that appear when love mixes with fear, dependence or power dynamics.
The songs “Lead Me to the Slaughter” and “Crucified” came out ahead of the EP. “Crucified” deals with the attraction to a person whose influence is hard to resist, even when the relationship is recognised as a source of suffering. Roughton commented on the song in the official release announcement:
Hay algo doloroso y placentero en su presencia, así que terminas cediendo y aceptando el caos que sabes que traerá.

Seven tracks from Texas
“…Then You Cannot Love Me” contains seven songs: “What You Paid For”, “Lead Me to the Slaughter”, “Bones in the Garden”, “Crucified”, “Walk on Water”, “Hallowed Ground” and “Alone”.
Gore. was formed in 2023, when Roughton travelled to a studio in St. Louis to write with Caleb and Ben, sessions that produced five songs and convinced her the material deserved to become a band. The current line-up, as listed by Spinefarm Records, is Roughton on vocals, Alex Reyes on guitar, Devin Birchfield on bass and Wills Weller on drums. The band’s debut EP, “A Bud That Never Blooms”, came out in 2024, followed by “If You Do Not Fear Me…” on 3 October 2025.
Haley Roughton, voice and founder
Roughton sings and founded Gore. in 2023 after earlier stints in extreme metal projects, including Dorzia and The Xebellian Triangle, where she felt limited in the vocal styles she could use. She has built the band as a space to move between melodic singing and intense delivery, with lyrics that explore love, obsession and the contradictions of human relationships. She also works as an engineer connected to NASA, balancing that career with the band through strict scheduling, and she has named Latin America as a goal for future touring.
