Inverne have announced their new album “The Black Moon Altar”, due on 27 November 2026. The Kraków gothic metal band will put the ten-track record out on all major streaming services, with a limited physical edition on the band’s own website from the beginning of November.
The announcement comes with a new preview: the lyric video for “Moonshade”, the fourth song to be lifted from the album. It follows “Mourning Ocean”, which had a video production of its own, and the earlier “The Slave of My Flesh” and “Rise and Fall”. Together the four tracks set the direction of the record.
Ten Tracks, From “Rise And Fall” to “Arcanum”
The album opens with “Rise And Fall” and runs through “Against The Tide”, “Moonshade”, “Mourning Ocean”, “Chalice of Decadence”, “In Dust We Mourn”, “The Slave of my Flesh”, “Road to Nowhere” and “The Ceaseless Flame”, closing on “Arcanum”.
Musically the band describe the record as a meeting of melodic death metal aggression with gothic and symphonic atmosphere. Dense, technical guitar and bass parts sit against string arrangements, cold synthetic textures and two voices, one female and one male, moving between clean melodic lines and screamed and growled delivery. The lyrics deal with inner experience, doubt, memory and personal feeling.
“A Musical River”
The band recorded most of the material themselves. Drums, acoustic guitars and clean vocals were tracked at Przemysław Nowak’s Impressive Art Studio, which also handled mixing and mastering. Michał “Xaay” Lorenc made the artwork.
- Inverne
In English: the band say work on “The Black Moon Altar” became an endless walk through the corners of their very different personalities and musical sensibilities, and the result is a surprising combination of aesthetics, arrangements and progressive rhythmic ideas. Guitar parts often entered into a dialogue with the rhythm section, competing with each other and settling only when keyboards or vocals came to the front. From the first track to the last, they wanted the ordered musical river to carry every listener with its current.
Karolina Dziewońska, Screams and Clean Lines
Karolina Dziewońska has been the vocalist of Inverne since 2023 and sings both the clean, hypnotic melodies and the harsh growls and screams on the record. She also plays in the project Pratum. On “Moonshade” she wrote the lyrics, while guitarist Wawrzyniec ‘Vary’ Witkowski composed the music. The lyric video’s visuals and animations were made by Ena.
Inverne formed in Kraków in 2018 and released their first full-length, “The Gathering”, in 2020. The singles “Rise and Fall” (2023), “The Slave of My Flesh” (2024) and “Mourning Ocean” (2026) followed, with “The Black Moon Altar” now set as the band’s second album.
