Dutch vocalist Floor Jansen has addressed her departure from Nightwish in public and set out what comes next for her solo career. She said she will now devote herself fully to her own projects, with the second studio album, “Hytress”, planned for January 2027, and a supporting run of dates under the name “HYTRESS Tour 2027”. One show on that tour is confirmed so far: 15 January 2027 at the Bataclan in Paris.
Fourteen Years in Nightwish
Jansen described the decision to leave as a difficult one, but said she faces her musical future with optimism. She thanked fans for the support she received during her fourteen years with the Finnish band and made clear that the split was agreed by both sides. She first appeared with Nightwish in 2012, taking over on stage after the departure of Anette Olzon, and became the band’s full-time lead singer the following year.
A Heavier Second Album
The new record marks a shift in direction. Jansen confirmed that “Hytress” moves towards a heavier sound, a change she said is already audible on the tracks released so far, “Run” and “Bring Me Silence”. “Run” arrived in June 2026. The album follows her solo debut, “Paragon”, which came out on 24 March 2023.
From After Forever to Northward
Floor Jansen, born 21 February 1981, is a Dutch singer whose work sits between symphonic metal and hard rock. She joined Apocalypse, later renamed After Forever, in 1997 at the age of sixteen and stayed with the band until it disbanded in 2009, then formed ReVamp and released two albums with them. She dissolved ReVamp in 2016 as her Nightwish commitments grew. In 2018 she launched the hard rock duo Northward with guitarist Jørn Viggo Lofstad, and she has also worked with Arjen Anthony Lucassen’s Star One and on several Ayreon albums.
One Confirmed Date So Far
For now, the Paris show on 15 January 2027 is the only “HYTRESS Tour 2027” date stated in her announcement. The album is planned for the same month, so the Bataclan performance would fall in the release window of “Hytress”.
