Career

Born in Goirle, Netherlands, Floor Jansen is one of the most celebrated and versatile vocalists in heavy metal. She rose to prominence in 1997 as the frontwoman of symphonic metal pioneers After Forever, recording benchmark albums including Decipher and their self-titled 2007 finale. Following After Forever's dissolution, she established the modern metal outfit ReVamp, releasing two hard-hitting studio records. In 2012, Jansen stepped in mid-tour as lead singer for Finnish symphonic metal titans Nightwish, becoming an official member the following year. Her powerful performances on landmark records such as Endless Forms Most Beautiful and Yesterwynde earned widespread critical acclaim. Beyond her work with Nightwish, she explored hard rock with the side project Northward, contributed prominently to Arjen Lucassen's Star One and Ayreon, and launched a successful solo career with her 2023 album Paragon. Jansen is revered worldwide for her remarkable multi-octave range, seamless transitions between classical soprano technique and gritty rock belting, and commanding live presence.
