CHARLOTTE WESSELS’ THE OBSESSION have shared the video for “Incubus”, the first single from their upcoming album “Mute Swan Empire”. Napalm Records will release the 15-track record on 5 February 2027, and the band will play the Legend Club in Milan, Italy, on 12 February. Tickets for the show are available through Dice.
Fifteen songs for February
The announcement follows Wessels’ first album announcement, which confirmed the release date, label and production team. CHARLOTTE WESSELS and JOOST VAN DEN BROEK produced the album at Sandlane Recording Facilities, where van den Broek also mixed it. ELIANNE ANEMAAT plays cello on several tracks, while VIKRAM SHANKAR arranged the orchestral and keyboard parts.
The album opens with “Incubus” and continues with “In Leta Via”, “Tempest”, “After Us The Flood”, “Good Girl (If You’re Ready To Die)”, “The Hermit Song”, “Emergency Kit”, “One Day They Will Come For You”, “Weeping Madonna”, “This Is Not An Opinion”, “The Villain”, “Let The Music Decide”, “Incantations”, “Starling” and “Bells Of Lynn”.
Napalm Records previously listed several editions, including a blood-marble double vinyl, standard double vinyl, CD digisleeve and CD earbook. Vinyl-and-shirt and CD-and-shirt packages were also announced, alongside a white-swan double vinyl edition for Wessels’ Patreon supporters through her own store.
Wessels leads the project
CHARLOTTE WESSELS is the band’s vocalist and songwriter. She joined Delain in 2010 and remained with the Dutch symphonic metal band until 2021. Since then, she has developed her solo work and now leads The Obsession, bringing that songwriting into a full-band setting.
Milan follows earlier dates
The Milan concert is one of several shows connected with the album campaign. Earlier coverage reported a European tour opening in Belgium on 4 February 2027, one day before the album arrives, as well as Wessels’ 15 December appearance at El Teatrito in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The newly announced Milan date places the band in Italy during the record’s first week.
