CHARLOTTE WESSELS announces the album "Mute Swan Empire", out 5 February on Napalm Records
The former Delain vocalist's new record runs to 16 tracks, produced with Joost van den Broek, followed by a European tour from 4 February.
Charlotte Wessels is a metal vocalist from the Netherlands. She plays with Phantasma.
Dutch singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Charlotte Wessels earned international acclaim as the frontwoman and primary lyricist of symphonic metal band Delain from 2005 to 2021. Born in Zwolle, she joined Delain at eighteen, shaping the group's melodic identity across six studio albums including Lucidity, April Rain, and Apocalypse & Chill. Beyond Delain, she co-founded the symphonic rock project Phantasma in 2015 alongside Georg Neuhauser and Oliver Philipps. Following Delain's lineup dissolution in early 2021, Wessels launched an eccentric, genre-blending solo career from her home studio, Six Feet Under. She released two compilation albums, Tales from Six Feet Under (2021) and Tales from Six Feet Under Vol II (2022), showcasing eclectic styles from art pop to heavy rock. In 2024, she reunited with former Delain bandmates to release The Obsession, returning to heavy, guitar-driven metal under her own name. Wessels is recognized for her expressive, emotive vocal range, poetic songwriting, and vibrant artistic independence.
