LUMSK have released their new album “Einsemda” through Karisma Records, turning poems by Norwegian writer Tor Jonsson into a dark folk rock record. The album arrived on 30 October 2026 and follows the Trondheim band’s 2023 release “Fremmede toner”.
“Einsemda” means loneliness. Jonsson, who lived from 1916 to 1951, repeatedly explored the subject in his poetry, and LUMSK have built the album around that emotional and literary focus. The band combines folk music with rock and metal elements, using the Norwegian-language poems to create songs shaped by longing, darkness and solitude.

LUMSK have described the material as an atmospheric space for Jonsson’s writing. The record is intended to carry its moods even for listeners who do not understand Norwegian, with poetic images placed alongside sombre instrumental passages and folk-based arrangements.
The album continues the band’s long-running interest in poetry. Their 2007 record “Det Vilde Kor” set poems by Knut Hamsun to music, while the group returned with “Fremmede toner” in 2023 after a lengthy gap between full-length releases.
Mari Klingen since 2021
Vocalist Mari Klingen has been part of LUMSK since 2021 and leads the singing on the band’s current material. She also performs with SalmeKlang. Her arrival followed several earlier changes to LUMSK’s vocal line-up, while the band’s sound has continued to include violin, keyboards, guitars, bass and drums.
LUMSK formed in Trondheim in 1999 and initially developed a folk metal sound that drew on Norwegian folklore and traditional music. Their early releases included the 2001 EP “Åsmund Frægdegjevar” and the 2005 album “Troll”. “Einsemda” is the band’s latest full-length record and is available through Karisma Records.
