EPICA will bring “The Symphonic Synergy Tour 2027” to Madrid in October 2027, with the announcement naming 10 October at Vistalegre Arena and a separate event listing 18 October at Palacio de Vistalegre. The Dutch symphonic metal band will perform as part of a tour built around its concerts with an orchestra and choir. Vocalist Simone Simons and guitarist and vocalist Mark Jansen lead the group.
The Madrid return follows the previous “The Symphonic Synergy” performances in Amsterdam and Mexico City, which drew more than 30,000 people combined. The project presented EPICA’s songs with expanded orchestral and choral arrangements, taking the band’s symphonic format beyond a standard club or arena set.
Two Madrid dates listed
The announcement first states that EPICA will play Madrid on 10 October 2027 at Vistalegre Arena. Its closing event information lists 18 October 2027 at Palacio de Vistalegre, so both dates are included in the published details. Tickets and further tour information are available through the band’s website.
The shows will take place during the period following the release of “Aspiral”, EPICA’s ninth studio album, which arrived on 11 April 2025. The record was presented around ideas of renewal, inspiration and growth, continuing the band’s use of heavy guitars, harsh vocals, orchestral arrangements and choirs.
Simons has fronted Epica since 2002
Simone Simons sings lead vocals for EPICA and joined the band at the age of 17. Born in 1985, she has appeared on all nine of the group’s studio albums and has also worked with Kamelot, Leaves’ Eyes, Primal Fear, Ayreon and Angra. Alongside the band, she has pursued her solo project and lifestyle blog, SmoonStyle.
The Madrid concerts add to an already busy 2027 schedule for EPICA. As we reported in October, the band will curate the Friday of South of Heaven Festival in Maastricht on 4 June, when Epic Metal Fest returns after more than ten years. Lacuna Coil and Ad Infinitum were the first acts announced for that bill, while EPICA will headline with a special 25th anniversary set.
The band is also promoting its single “Cross The Divide” through an official music video. The clip was directed and edited by Remko Tielemans, with Maurice Tromp and Angela Kuperus producing and creating the character designs. Simons remains the group’s lead singer alongside Mark Jansen’s rhythm guitar and unclean vocals, Coen Janssen’s keyboards, Ariën van Weesenbeek’s drums, Isaac Delahaye’s lead guitar and Rob van der Loo’s bass.
