DREAMSLAIN have released a new video for “Break Down The Walls” to mark the 10th anniversary of their debut EP, “Tales Of War”. The Norwegian metal band filmed the live sections at their recent appearance at Hellivare Festival in northern Sweden and combined them with animations from the song’s original lyric video.
The track was the first single in Dreamslain’s history. “Tales Of War” originally came out on 11 November 2016 through Under The Bridge Music and is available digitally and on CD. The 37-minute EP contains five songs: “Break Down The Walls”, “Raw War”, “Return”, “Question” and “The Forgotten Ones”.
Five songs from 2016
DREAMSLAIN said the EP leaned towards traditional heavy metal, while “Question” and “The Forgotten Ones” introduced progressive elements. “Break Down The Walls” and “Raw War” brought a more extreme metal edge, and “Return” was described by the band as their first “weird song”, opening with a country introduction before shifting into an off-beat riff.
The lyrics address the horrors of war, the courage needed to oppose it when political forces move in the opposite direction, and the gap between those who begin or profit from wars and the people sent to fight them. Dreamslain recorded the EP themselves, with Steve Walker of Merciless Mixing mixing and mastering it.
Anna Loppacher on keys
Anna Loppacher is Dreamslain’s keyboardist and backing vocalist. She is part of the current three-member line-up alongside guitarist, bassist and banjo player Igor Jakobsen and drummer Daniel Paulsen Figenschou. The band formed in Tromsø, Norway, in 2011 and later released the albums “Tales of Knights and Distant Worlds” and “Forge of Rebellion”.
The anniversary video gives “Break Down The Walls” a new visual setting while returning to the EP that introduced Dreamslain’s mix of heavy, progressive and extreme metal.
