Noora Louhimo has released “Voodoo Woman”, the first single from her second solo album. The Finnish vocalist wrote and produced the track with Samuli Erkkilä, the guitarist in her solo band, and it mixes blues with upbeat pop. The album is due in spring 2027.
The song is out now, but the video follows on Friday 30 October. Ticket sales for her spring 2027 tour open the same day.
A draft left in the drawer for years
Louhimo says the song took a long time to find its shape, and that she wanted to bring two sides of her listening together on it.
The draft of Voodoo Woman was lurking in a drawer for years, until Samuli Erkkilä and I put it on the desk and started looking for its right form. I wanted to combine blues and driving pop in the song, taking musical influences from Michael Jackson. I grew up surrounded by his music. The song finally sees the light of the moon and gets to run wild just in time for Halloween.
- Noora Louhimo, vocalist
The lyrics deal with morbid possessiveness, narcissism and forced control. Louhimo says she wants her music both to entertain and to help listeners work through their own experiences. The story is a Halloween one: a voodoo woman who rules a nightclub, and a partygoer who does not see her coming.
