Eva Under Fire have released a lyric video for their new song “Starshine”. The track is out now through Better Noise Music and appears on the band’s latest album “Villainous”, which is already available on streaming platforms.
Directed by Michael Lombardi
The lyric video was directed by Michael Lombardi and edited by Javin Romero. It puts the song’s words at the centre, and those words carry a heavy theme: the lyrics describe a narrator losing time in the dark, “a prisoner of my own” thoughts, trying and failing to rewrite her own narrative. Lines such as “the dark has a loneliness I’m falling for it” set a sombre tone that sits alongside the band’s usual hard rock attack.
A Voice at the Centre of the Song
“Starshine” is built around the band’s singer, whose delivery moves between the confessional verses and the repeated hook of the chorus. She has been the constant of Eva Under Fire since the band formed in Michigan, and her writing shapes the album’s subject matter: the lyrics here deal with changing, exhaustion and the struggle to hold on to one’s own story, material that runs through “Villainous” as a whole.
“Villainous” Keeps Rolling
The single arrives while the band is still riding on the momentum of “Villainous”, their current album on Better Noise Music. With “Starshine”, Eva Under Fire add another track to the album’s cycle and give listeners a new entry point into its darker corners.
The song is available on all major streaming services, and the band’s merch is sold through the label’s store.
