Heavy metal band VIPERWITCH return with a new music video for “Lightning Strikes Twice”, featuring guest vocals from Jean-Pierre Abboud. The track serves as the lead single from the upcoming sophomore album, titled “The Age of Steel”. Directed and produced by Devin Patterson, the visual accompaniment draws inspiration from 1980s cinematic grit, including John Boorman’s fantasy film “Excalibur” and classic arena metal clips.
Behind the Post-Apocalyptic Camera
The band shot the video in the Rocky Mountain wastelands, pairing rain-soaked performance footage with a post-apocalyptic narrative. Bassist Jason Pinero handled the audio mixing and mastering for the track. Alongside her musical duties, frontwoman Danica Minor shaped the visual execution by writing the storyline, serving as prop master and armorer, co-costuming, and styling the band’s wardrobe.
The Frontwoman’s Role
Danica “Lynx the Huntress” Minor anchors the line-up on lead vocals and guitar. She founded the group in 2014 and remains the sole continuous member steering the creative direction through its various iterations. Her dual role as guitarist and primary songwriter shapes the heavy traditional metal sound of the outfit.
Origins in Colorado
VIPERWITCH originally took shape in Denver, Colorado, in 2014. The group built a reputation in the underground scene with thematic heavy metal rooted in fantasy literature and post-apocalyptic imagery. Following their debut full-length “Witch Hunt: Road to Vengeance” alongside standalone singles like “Tooth and Nail” and “Hellbound” in 2024, the band now leads into their second full-length album campaign with “Lightning Strikes Twice”.
