Italian heavy metal band Wicked Asylum announced their permanent disbandment on 19 October 2026. The group confirmed the decision in an official statement posted to their social channels, bringing an end to an active run that began in Lombardy nearly eighteen years ago.

Alongside the split, Wicked Asylum confirmed plans to perform two final concerts before stepping away from the stage. The first farewell date takes place on Saturday, 7 November 2026 at Dedolor Music Headquarters in Italy, where the band will perform alongside Madness of Sorrow at an album release show for Amthrya. Details regarding the date and location of the second and final gig will follow on the band’s official channels.

A Decision After 18 Years

The band reflected on their run and thanked their listeners in a collective farewell message:

After almost 18 years of intense and extensive activity, Wicked Asylum are disbanding permanently. It was not at all easy to make this decision, but necessary for us at this historical moment. We warmly want to thank everyone who has been part of our path on a professional level, but above all all the friends we met, two roads that often merged into a single one. Heartfelt thanks also to those who were part of our musical and personal path. A special thank you goes to those who supported us in our crowdfunding campaigns, allowing us to release our music and our emotions. Banshee, Cioppa, Roby and Chiara will continue to support each other and remain a small, precious family. We await you for our final two live appearances, the first of which is Saturday, 7 November at the release party of Amthrya together with Madness of Sorrow at Dedolor Music Headquarters. Further info about the final show can be found soon on our page. Thank you for all these years, Wicked Asylum.

Banshee at the Microphone

Vocalist Banshee has fronted Wicked Asylum as the group’s lead singer, shaping the melodic delivery across their studio records and stage performances. She handled vocals across the band’s catalog, including their full-length studio outings. In the band’s farewell message, she was named alongside bandmates Cioppa, Roby, and Chiara as part of the tight-knit core remaining close beyond the group’s conclusion.

From Como to European Stages

Formed in Como in 2009 and based out of Milan, Wicked Asylum developed a traditional heavy metal sound centered on themes of inner conflict and introspection. The band released their debut full-length record “Out of the Mist” in 2020 through Ad Noctem Records, supported by singles including “Threnody” and “Sun Will Rise”. They followed in 2023 with their second studio album, “Kintsugi”, preceded by the singles “Crystallised” and the title track.

Over nearly two decades, the band toured clubs and festivals across northern Italy as well as Germany, Switzerland, and Slovenia. Along the way, the group shared festival and club bills with acts such as MaYaN, Eternal Idol, Theatres des Vampires, Hellcats, Null Positiv, and Frozen Crown.

Song of the day

Downcast Collision

“Hollow”

A song about grief after losing someone central to one's life, where the survivor numbs the pain with excess and self-destruction, unable to let go or imagine a way out.
