British thrash metal quintet Helgrind have joined the roster of Time To Kill Records for the release of their upcoming full-length album, “Shadows of Souls”. The record features ten new tracks combining American and German thrash traditions with direct punk elements, set against a dark atmosphere. Details regarding the exact street date and initial singles will arrive in the coming weeks.
Ten Tracks Tested on the Road
Helgrind tracked the material for “Shadows of Souls” during 2024, shaping it into a fast and heavy collection. Before completing the signing with Time To Kill Records, the band took the new compositions directly to live audiences, testing the songs during tours across Germany, Austria and the United Kingdom throughout 2025 and 2026.
Paula Nelson Behind the Microphone
Vocalist Paula Nelson fronts the band, delivering the aggressive vocal delivery that defines their sound. After surviving a serious accident that forced her to relearn how to walk, she led the group back to live performances in 2022. Alongside lead guitarists Simon James Ellis and Rob Stedman-Lloyd, bassist Michael Worsley and drummer Michael O’Neill, she remains central to the group’s energetic stage presence.
Two Decades in the British Underground
Formed in the United Kingdom in 2000, Helgrind built their following during an era when thrash metal received little mainstream attention. Following years of underground gigs, they issued their debut record, “Denial”, in 2005. The band expanded their sound with clean and melodic guitar textures on the 2007 EP “Fallen Prophet” and their 2008 album “Religious Persecution”.
Their third studio album, “Inquisition”, arrived in 2010. While they wrote follow-up material as early as 2015, label complications delayed that record until 2021, when “Insurrection” finally arrived on Metal Rocka Records. The upcoming release of “Shadows of Souls” on Time To Kill Records marks their return to full-length studio releases.
