Eivør has released her new album “Tungl” today, 16 October 2026, through Nuclear Blast Records. To mark the occasion, the Faroese singer also presented a new video for the opening track “Og mánin græt / And The Moon Cried”, created by Gwenaël Akira.
The title “Tungl” is a Faroese word for “moon”, and the album holds ten tracks, most of them with Faroese titles and English translations. Elinborg guests on “Fangað / Trapped”. The album is available on CD in jewelcase and digipack editions and on several vinyl variants, including a crystal clear 1LP gatefold, a white and black marbled edition for Nuclear Blast and independent stores, and a transparent and black marbled edition with a 7-inch bonus vinyl as an artist exclusive.
A memory under the moon
Eivør described the song behind the new video in a statement:
“The song is about a faint memory that still lingers, almost like a dream. I remember looking up at the moon in the dark sky when I was little, wondering why it always looked so sad. I would imagine all sorts of reasons, and my imagination would just wander off.”
She added that the video’s creator, Gwenaël Akira, “understands my music in such a visual way” and captures “the raw emotions, nature and a distorted dream like reality” of the song.
Three release concerts in the North
To celebrate the release, Eivør plays three special album concerts this month. She performs two consecutive nights at Nordic House in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, on 16 and 17 October, before a show at Eldborg, Harpa in Reykjavík, Iceland, on 23 October, featuring special guest musicians.
A North American headline tour follows from 28 October, starting at Racket in New York and running through 22 November, when it ends at House of Blues in San Diego. The run covers 18 cities in the United States and Canada, including Montreal, Chicago, Seattle, Vancouver and Los Angeles.
In early 2027, Eivør brings the tour to Europe and the UK. The leg opens in Copenhagen on 24 February and closes in Gothenburg on 27 March, with stops in Hamburg, Paris, London, Milan, Vienna, Prague, Berlin, Warsaw and Helsinki, among others.
