OBSIDIAN FALL have released “Empire Down” as the first single from their upcoming second album. The Bologna, Italy, melodic death metal band also shared an official video for the track, while the album’s title will be revealed later.
A direct return to melody
“Empire Down” keeps the band’s melodic death metal base and symphonic touches, but takes a more modern and compact approach than their 2025 debut, “Elegy From A Dying World”. The song was produced by Eddy Cavazza, whose previous work includes releases by Awake For Days, Logical Terror and Trick or Treat.
The video introduces a new visual story for OBSIDIAN FALL: an empire built on power, oppression and worship summons an ancient presence that eventually grows beyond humanity’s control. The track follows the band’s earlier 2025 releases, “A Pale Yellow Sun” and “The Last Rain on Earth”.
Mira leads the vocals
Mira sings for OBSIDIAN FALL and also has the project Kembang Kuburan. She is joined in the current line-up by Promether on guitar, Nanse on bass and Iskandar on drums. The band formed in Bologna in 2023 and released its debut album, “Elegy From A Dying World”, in 2025.
