BOOK OF WYRMS have released “Proficient Dreamer”, the second single from their fourth album “Megacelestial”, which arrives on 11 December 2026 through Argonauta Records on CD, coloured vinyl and digital formats. The Richmond, Virginia band announced the record alongside the track, and the full tracklist is now confirmed.

“Proficient Dreamer” follows “Slime Fever”, the first taste of the album. The band describe the new material as faster, dirtier and more direct than their earlier work, with sharper guitar work, fuzz-driven low end and atmospheric synthesizers sitting under the vocals.

A ten song journey starting with “Electric Highway”

“Megacelestial” runs to ten songs: “Electric Highway”, “Slime Fever”, “Scared Shitless”, “Lone Mtn Lane”, “Mindfight”, “Necrocracy”, “Proficient Dreamer”, “Midnight and Maria”, “Liquid Satan” and “Glass Cannon”. The band have pointed to the melodic power of 1980s Judas Priest, Dio, Thin Lizzy, Scorpions, Queen and Motörhead as the frame for the new songs.

Working with Witch Mountain’s Rob Wrong

The album was mixed by Rob Wrong of Witch Mountain at Wrong Way Recording, the first time in the band’s history that an outside engineer has handled the mix. Drummer Brian Wiltz, whose arrival reshaped the group’s songwriting and dynamics, is central to the shift in energy on the record.

The creative force at the microphone and the keys

Sarah Moore-Lindsey is the voice of Book of Wyrms, handling vocals and synthesizers. She is the band’s frontwoman on “Megacelestial”, and the synthesizer parts she plays are one of the elements the group name when describing the record’s balance of fuzz, atmosphere and melody. She appears on all ten tracks, from the opening “Electric Highway” to the closing “Glass Cannon”.

Over a decade of heavy music in Richmond

Book of Wyrms formed in 2014 in Richmond through a shared love of Hawkwind and ZZ Top, and have spent more than a decade on the outer edges of heavy music. Their earlier releases include the 2021 album “Occult New Age” and the singles “Sodapop Glacier” (2022), “Storm Warning” (2023) and “Slime Fever” (2026), plus the 2024 collaboration “Hollergoblin”. The line-up is completed by guitarist Kyle Lewis, bassist Jay “Jake” Lindsey and drummer Brian Wiltz.

“Proficient Dreamer” is out now on digital platforms. “Megacelestial” follows on 11 December.

Song of the day

The Erinyes

“"Agony & Ecstasy" - Official Visualizer”

A song about duality and loss, where agony and ecstasy intertwine as someone struggles to let go of a ghost-like presence and rise above the pain of being left behind.
