Agrimonia will release their fifth full-length album, “Of the Shadows”, on 11 December through De:Nihil Records. The Gothenburg band announced the record on 23 October, alongside the track list and the first single, “In the Silence Engraved”.
Six Tracks, One Opener
The album holds six songs: “In the Silence Engraved”, “Fire in the Sky”, “Marked by Ice”, “Avsked”, “A Silent Journey” and the title track, “Of the Shadows”. Henrik Udd handled mixing and mastering. Christina Blom, who sings and plays keyboards in the band, made the cover art.
The single “In the Silence Engraved” leads the record. It is the first new Agrimonia material since “Awaken”, released in 2018 on Southern Lord Recordings.
Christina Blom Has Been There Since 2005
Christina Blom sings and plays keyboards in Agrimonia, a role she has held since the band formed in 2005. She is one of the group’s longest-serving members, alongside guitarist Magnus Andreasson, guitarist and keyboardist Pontus Redig and drummer Björn Eriksson. Outside Agrimonia she has played in Loch Ness. On “Of the Shadows” she also made the cover artwork, so her work runs through both the sound and the look of the record.
From a 2008 Demo to De:Nihil
Agrimonia formed in Gothenburg, in Västra Götaland, in 2005. The band self-released a demo, “Agrimonia”, in 2008, then put out the first full-length, “Host of the Winged”, in 2010. “Rites of Separation” followed in 2013 and “Awaken” in 2018, both on Southern Lord. The line-up has drawn from other Swedish acts, including Martyrdöd, Miasmal, At the Gates, Contorture and Swordwielder. “Of the Shadows” is their first album for De:Nihil Records.
