Desertfest London has added 18 artists to its 2027 lineup, with Windhand, YOB and Kylesa leading the second wave of confirmations. The festival takes place from 21 to 23 May 2027, and weekend tickets with Roundhouse seating and standing options are already on sale.
The announcement marks a Desertfest London debut for Windhand, the Richmond, Virginia doom band fronted by Dorthia Cottrell. Kylesa also play the London edition for the first time, having returned from a ten-year hiatus in 2025. YOB come back to the festival after their 2022 set at the Roundhouse.
Eighteen new names
The full second wave adds Margarita Witch Cult, Bonnacons of Doom, Gurt, Ritual King, Cardiel, Druidess, Pink Fuzz, Blue Heron, Goya, Friendship Commanders, Stonus, Congulus, Occult Hand Order and Tellemehookah, alongside YOB, Kylesa, Windhand and London’s own Lowen. They join a first round that already confirmed Melvins as a first headliner, plus Monolord, Inter Arma and Dopethrone.
In its announcement, the festival described Windhand as delivering “the heaviest of eerie psychedelia”, and said Lowen would “cast spells of genre bending progressive metal and Middle Eastern lore across the Desertfest stage”.
Dorthia Cottrell at the mic
Dorthia Cottrell has sung in Windhand since the band formed in Richmond in 2008, and she is the voice across all four of its studio albums, from their 2012 self-titled debut “Windhand” through “Soma” (2013), “Grief’s Infernal Flower” (2015) and “Eternal Return” (2018). Born in 1986, she also pursues an acoustic solo career; her second solo album, “Death Folk Country”, made the shortlist for the Newlin Music Prize in 2024. The current lineup around her features Garrett Morris and Leanne Martz on guitars, Thomas Hamilton on bass and Ryan Wolfe on drums.
Weekend tickets are available now, and the festival runs across London venues from 21 to 23 May 2027.
