Heilung will return to the stage in March 2027 with seven shows in Australia and New Zealand, the band’s first performances since going on hiatus after a final show in August 2025. The announcement was made on 20 October 2026.
The run opens with two nights at the Sydney Opera House on 1 and 2 March, followed by Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne on 4 March, Riverstage in Brisbane on 6 March, the Entertainment Centre Theatre in Adelaide on 9 March, Red Hill Auditorium in Perth on 12 March, and a single performance at Spark Arena in Auckland on 16 March. Lilith Max will open every show except the two Sydney dates.
Back on their bare feet in Sydney
The band said the Sydney Opera House holds particular meaning for them:
It is with great honour that we can reveal the first performances after our long hiatus will commence Down Under. Even more so because the first time we set our bare feet on stage again, will be in the beautiful halls of the Sydney Opera House. Only a few Danish acts have managed to perform within these famous walls and we are proud to become part of that legacy.

They added that from Sydney they will travel across Australia and finish with one performance in Aotearoa / New Zealand, and that they will again share the ritual with First Nations people of these lands, “meeting old and new friends and honouring the local spirits together”.
Ticket times
For the Sydney shows, a presale starts on 21 October at 12pm AEDT, with general tickets on sale from 23 October at 9am AEDT. For all other cities, an early bird sale opens on 27 October at 9am local time, and general tickets follow on 29 October at 9am local time.
Maria Franz leads the ritual
Maria Franz sings lead vocals and plays percussion in Heilung. She joined in 2015, initially as a session vocalist, and became the third official member shortly after the release of the debut album Ofnir that same year. Before Heilung, she sang in the progressive rock and pop-rock band Euzen, where Christopher Juul, who founded Heilung with Kai Uwe Faust in Copenhagen in 2014, played piano and electronics. Her ethereal singing has been a defining part of albums such as Futha, Drif and this year’s Sagas, all released through Season of Mist.
The band called their music “amplified history from early medieval northern Europe”, built on texts and runic inscriptions from the Iron Age and Viking Age.
