From debut to second record
Catalyst Crime was formed in 2017 by vocalist and composer Zoe Marie Federoff, drummer Gerit Lamm (Angus McSixx, ex-Xandria) and guitarist Kaelen Sarakinis. The line-up grew with orchestral composer and keyboardist Jonah Weingarten (Pyramaze, Aries Descendant), bassist Matt Federoff and guitarist Chena. The group’s self-titled debut album was released in 2021 and drew praise for its combination of cinematic arrangements and melodic metal. After touring Europe and the UK with Leaves’ Eyes in spring 2024, the band returned to the studio to work on the follow-up.
The band recorded its debut under the production of Alexander Krull (Leaves’ Eyes, Atrocity) at Mastersound Studios in Stuttgart, Germany. Their releases have come out through Massacre Records, including the singles “Cursebreaker” in November 2025 and “Acquired Immunity” in March 2026.
Zoe Marie Federoff fronts the band
Zoe Marie Federoff sings and writes the band’s material. The American vocalist came up through the band Insatia, and from 2022 to 2025 she also held the female vocal and keyboard position in Cradle of Filth. In Catalyst Crime she shares the stage with guitarists Kaelen Sarakinis and Chena Roxx, bassist Matt Federoff, keyboardist Jonah Weingarten and drummer Gerit Lamm.
The band describes their sound as cinematic symphonic metal, built on orchestral scoring by Weingarten and the guitar work of Chena and Kaelen Sarakinis. The new album also promises an all-star guest lineup that the band says will be revealed soon.
