Lovebites have announced that they will take a break from live performance in 2027. The Tokyo power metal band shared the news through their official social media channels, stating that after more than three years of touring, two studio albums, an EP and several live albums, the time has come to step back from the stage and concentrate on studio work and their own projects.

The announcement comes shortly after the band finished the tour for their current studio album “Outstanding Power”, released in 2026. Two festival appearances in Japan are still on the schedule before the pause takes effect.

Three years on the road

The live pause closes a busy stretch for the five-piece. Since returning to activity with the album “Judgement Day” in 2023, Lovebites have toured extensively behind that record and its successor “Outstanding Power”, released EPs and documented their shows on several live albums. The band explained that the pause is intended to give the members room for their own projects as well as studio work.

One of those projects is already under way: bassist Fami recently released her second solo album, “Hakoniwa”.

Asami, Midori, Miyako, Fami and Haruna

Lovebites are an all-female band from Tokyo, formed in 2016. Asami sings lead vocals, Midori and Miyako play guitars, with Miyako also on keyboards, Fami plays bass and Haruna sits behind the drum kit. Midori previously played in Gekijo Metalicche, while Haruna was a member of Destrose, the band from which Lovebites originally grew. Fami joined in 2022 after the departure of founding bassist Miho and has now launched a solo career alongside her work with the band.

The band won the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for Best New Band in 2018 and has released five studio albums since its debut “Awakening from Abyss” in 2017.

What remains for 2026

Before the live pause begins, fans in Japan still have two festival appearances to catch. What the studio work will lead to has not been announced yet.
