Chibi

Chibi is the vocalist of Canadian band The Birthday Massacre, whose music combines dark rock with electronic and new wave influences. She was part of the group when it performed under the name Imajica before adopting its current name. Early releases included Nothing and Nowhere and Violet, the latter featuring Happy Birthday. Chibi has explained that the contrast between the cheerful idea of a birthday and the violence in the band name reflected an important part of its identity. Her vocals sit alongside synthesizers and guitars in songs that often explore childhood imagery, fantasy and darker emotions. With The Birthday Massacre she has recorded albums including Walking with Strangers, Hide and Seek, Under Your Spell and Diamonds. The group has continued to tour and release music, maintaining its blend of atmospheric melodies and heavier textures across more than two decades.
