The Birthday Massacre

The Birthday Massacre are a Canadian band whose music blends gothic rock, electronic textures and new wave melodies. Singer Chibi and her bandmates began performing under the name Imajica before adopting The Birthday Massacre. Their early releases included Nothing and Nowhere and Violet, which features Happy Birthday. The band followed with Walking with Strangers, Hide and Seek, Under Your Spell and Diamonds. Their songs and visual identity often bring together childhood imagery, fantasy and darker themes. Chibi has described the contrast in the group name as central to its identity, while synthesizers and guitars underpin her vocals. Across more than two decades, the group has continued to release records and tour internationally.
