Nova Spei
Nova Spei is a French-Canadian groove and progressive metal band formed in Montreal, Quebec in 2012. Blending polyrhythmic eight-string guitar grooves, industrial atmosphere, and French-language lyricism, the band established a strong footprint across Canada's underground metal scene with their self-titled debut in 2017 and follow-up album Sequentis in 2022. Renowned for crushing live performances and technical precision, Nova Spei entered a powerful new era in 2026 by enlisting frontwoman Emmanuelle Desbiens-Dubois on lead vocals. The renewed lineup immediately made waves with the high-octane collaborative single 'Enterre Vivant', fusing ferocious modern metal aggression with melodic clarity.
Women in Metal Spotlight: Fronted by Montreal vocalist Emmanuelle Desbiens-Dubois, bringing fierce gutturals, soaring melodic lines, and intense stage charisma to French-Canadian groove metal.
