Fortress Festival has completed the lineup for its 2027 edition, and with it Perchta have announced their first ever show on British soil. The Austrian band, whose ritual black and pagan metal is rooted in Alpine myth, will appear at the Scarborough Spa on the North Yorkshire coast of England, where the festival runs from 28 to 30 May 2027.
The band commented on the news:
Perchta se enorgullece de anunciar su debut en Reino Unido en el legendario Fortress Festival. Algunas cosas valen la espera. En 2027 por fin llevaremos nuestra música a suelo británico. Nos vemos en Fortress.
- Perchta
The debut comes after the band had to cancel their planned appearance at the 2025 edition of the festival.
A fifth anniversary bill
The 2027 edition is the fifth anniversary of Fortress Festival, which started in Scarborough in 2023 and has sold out every edition so far. The main headliners are Emperor, who close the festival with a UK exclusive show, and Stormkeep, the Colorado melodic black metal band, which also brings an exclusive setlist covering several eras of its career, including material never played in the country.
The final announcement adds German bands Ultha, returning after their 2024 appearance with a UK exclusive show, and Firtan, also in a UK exclusive. Blood Countess joins “Fortress: First Light”, the opening concert on Friday 28 May in the Grand Hall, sold separately from the weekend pass, a night headlined by Watain.
Festival founder and director Gary Stephenson said:
Creamos el cartel más fuerte que Reino Unido haya visto para el quinto aniversario de Fortress Festival. Han pasado apenas unos meses desde Fortress 2026 y ya estamos en el último lote de entradas para el próximo año. Eso nos dio el margen para crear algo realmente especial para 2027. ¡Gracias a todos los que apoyan este evento!
- Gary Stephenson, festival founder and director
The voice of Alpine myth
The band Perchta takes its name from a female figure of Alpine paganism, and the woman who performs under that name has been its vocalist since the group formed in Tyrol in 2017. She sings and plays bladder fiddle and percussion in a line-up that also includes Fabio D’Amore on vocals, bass and keyboards, Loda and Gsell on guitars, Håscht on drums and Moosmandl on hammered dulcimer. The band released the albums “Ufång” in 2020 and “D’Muata” in 2024 on Prophecy Productions, with lyrics drawing on Alpine nature, culture and myths.
Remaining tickets are available through the festival’s website.
