Angela Gossow
Angela Gossow is a metal vocalist from Germany.
Career
Angela Gossow is a German extreme metal vocalist born in Cologne, widely recognized as one of the most influential frontwomen in death metal history. She began her vocal journey in the underground German death metal scene during the 1990s with bands such as Asmodina and Mistress. In late 2000, she joined Swedish melodic death metal titans Arch Enemy, debuting on their breakthrough 2001 studio album, Wages of Sin. Gossow quickly gained international acclaim for her ferocious guttural growls, commanding stage presence, and sharp lyrical themes addressing social injustice and personal liberation. Across five full-length albums with Arch Enemy, including Anthems of Rebellion, Doomsday Machine, and Rise of the Tyrant, she redefined the vocal landscape for women in heavy music. She stepped down from Arch Enemy vocal duties in 2014 to focus on artist management and band business, maintaining a monumental legacy as a trailblazing vocal powerhouse.
