Blackbriar

Blackbriar are a Dutch gothic and symphonic metal band formed in Assen in 2012. Vocalist and lyricist Zora Cock works with drummer René Boxem and their bandmates to create songs drawing on folklore, dark fantasy and personal experience. The group released the EP Fractured Fairytales in 2017, followed by We'd Rather Burn and Our Mortal Remains. Their first full-length album, The Cause of Shipwreck, appeared in 2021 and includes The Séance. After signing with Nuclear Blast, Blackbriar released A Dark Euphony in 2023 and A Thousand Little Deaths in 2025. The self-released EP Our Long Cursed Sleep followed in 2026. Cock has described beginning songs with lyrics and a vocal melody, which Boxem then develops into music. The band supports its songs with elaborate videos and has toured across Europe.
